Hanoi to Hai Phong by Bus

Arrive at Gia Lam Bus Station between 6:50 am and 5:30 pm and hop on one of the buses that departs every twenty minutes. The station is on Ngo Gia Kham on the east side of the Red River. Pho Ngoc Lam runs east-west between the Long Bien and Chuong Duong bridges, so follow this street for about 2 km or until you see a sign pointing you in the direction of Gia Lam Bus Station. You can buy tickets at the station during its open hours from 6:00 am until 5:30 pm. You will arrive at Hai Phong’s bus terminal called Tam bac.
Hanoi to Hai Phong by Train

Trains to Hai Phong leave from both the Central Station and Long Bien Station, which is on the west side of the Red River. You can buy tickets for Long Bien from either station from 7:30 am-12:30 pm and 1:30-7:30 pm. Trains depart at 9:20 am, 3:30 pm, and 6:10 pm from Long Bien and 6 am and 3:20 pm from the Central Station. You may also be able to book tickets through a travel agency, and possibly your hotel. Booking at the station is the cheapest option, but paying a premium at a travel agency or your hotel can save time and worry, often providing travel from your hotel to the station. It is wise to reserve your seat for travel on weekends and during festivals at least one day in advance.
